This week has been stressful for everyone. Americans have a lot on the line with this election, and it seems like the results are going to take forever to finalize.
Now more than ever, it is very important to take care of yourselves! Self-care can come in many different forms, whether it's slowing down and engaging in something relaxing, or finishing the tasks you've been putting off for too long.
Today we asked the Gaynea Pigs for their best self-care tips, so we'll share them with you!
LEO: treat yo'self.
Leo often finds comfort in food. He has become quite a connoisseur of all things snacks and treats. This week, find some time to indulge in some of your favorites! Leo loves his parsley and red peppers, but is always down the lounge in his hay while crunching away. His pellets never last very long after meal time, so don't feel guilty if you want to treat yourself to your fave meal this week!
LYNX: find your support network.
This is a rough time, but reaching out to friends and family can help boost your mood. Who can you reach out to? Spend some time calling or texting people you care about. Check in with them, and share how you have been feeling this week. Or if you prefer to avoid the subject all together, don't talk about anything at all! Sometimes a distraction and a laugh with someone you love is all you need.
RIGEL: take time for yourself.
Rigel is the master of alone-time. Maybe you need to read a book, log off from the internet for a while, or go for a solo walk. Spend some time alone and make sure you are checking in with yourself. How are you feeling? What do you need right now? Tuning the world out for a while can help you stay in touch with your immediate needs and emotions.
IO: slow down and nap.
We're all just stuck in a prolonged waiting period at this point. Has this week's stress been keeping you up at night? Try to include a sleep hygiene routine in your evening, and take a nap during the day if you need it. Make sure you're sleeping in a dark, cool room with no distractions for the best sleep. Or, like Io, take a bunch of catnaps throughout the day wherever you feel most comfortable.
